The two-act play, originally written by Dr Prem Janmejai, was morphed into a single act with an apt medley of song and dance. The play is an unabridged version that explains the different guises of corruption in our daily trials.
From the corrupt thanedaar, who tosses Ram and Lakshman about, to the thanedaar’s demand for tandoori chicken — a crypted order to get fried deer meat, a subtle catch on how the law enforcers themselves encourage poaching, the play meanders from one scene of corruption to the other.
While Ram is out to get Bali from behind, Lakshman sets out to do the same! The “incorruptible” cop, meanwhile, goes on a rampage of rape and ransom while taking bayaan. The everyday concoction of corruption exists, but how to escape it, is anybody’s wonder. The satire drove home the point to look out for yourself in this bad, bad world.
